What's New on this Site or otherwise with the Montana Native Plant Society

Here's what's new:

• Annual Meeting Online Registration is now available. Click here or go to the Annual Meeting page and review all about the meeting and then click on the link there to register. (4/18) 
• Links to a biographical essay on Mary Vaux Walcott written by Elizabeth Bergstrom may be found on the Pioneer Botanists page as well as on the Stolon Stories page along with other information on this notable botanical artist. (4/10) 
• The Montana Natural Heritage Program is recruiting a seasonal field biologist for the 2018 season. Application review will begin April 13, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Work to begin in late may. Click here for the full announcement. (4/10)
  
• The Winter Issue of the Kelseya is now posted along with a summary of the current issue. Members receive the current issue right away - join or renew to receive the latest issue automatically by mail or email. 
• Calypso Chapter 2018 Events for the rest of the year are posted. (3/20) 
• New recommendations for native home landscaping in the Flathead area posted (3/18) 
• Flathead Chapter spring events are now posted. (3/18)
• Board of Directors Agenda for March 17, 2018 meeting is posted on the Board of Directors page. (3/08)

• The Proceedings for the upcoming Plant Conservation Conference are posted. (1/13) 
• The Fall 2017 issue of the Kelseya is now posted online along with a summary of the current issue. (1/3)
• A link to a UM video celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Montana Native Plant Garden at the University is now available.
  

• Stolon Stories is a feature including stories about how background information was uncovered in the process of editing and developing the Pioneer Botanists book.

Some useful things:

• Professor Cathy Cripps, who presented programs on mushrooms at the 2014 Montana Native Plant Society Annual Meeting in 2014, has written a recently published guide to local fungi. Here is a link to the Montana State University publication announcement. 
• Three mobile device apps that may be of interest to MNPS members are now available from High Country Apps http://www.highcountryapps.com: "Montana Grasses," "Glacier Wildflowers," and "Flora of Yellowstone."
• The author for "Montana Grasses" is Dr. Matt Lavin of MSU and the author for "Glacier Wildflowers" is Montana Native Plant Society member, Shannon Kimball. For "Flora of Yellowstone" the author is Whitney Tilt. All 3 are members of their local native plant societies. High Country Apps has confirmed that they are donating 5% of proceeds from the "Montana Grasses" app to the state-wide Montana Native Plant Society. For Glacier, they will donate 5% of proceeds to Glacier National Park Conservancy and for Yellowstone, 5% will go to theYellowstone Park Foundation. (Works on most applicable devices; Minimum OS versions are iOS 5.0 and Android 2.2)
